Louisa County school officials say they havereceived a $10,000 donation from the National Education Association to help rebuild after the August earthquake.
The school division said Monday it was recently presented a check at its November school board meeting. The check was presented by Princess Moss, a member of the NEAexecutive committee, past president of the Virginia Education Association, and a former Louisa County Public Schools teacher.
The 5.8-magnitude earthquake that rumbled up the East Coast on Aug. 23 was centered in Louisa County. Damage from the quake caused two schools to be shut down for the rest of the school year and students are sharing space at other schools.
